CHURCH FAMILY

It is with sadness we announce the death in the last week of  two well-known members of our congregation.

Eileen Evans died on 24th March and her funeral will take place at Landican at 11.30 a.m. on Friday, 27th April followed by a Service of Thanksgiving here at 12 noon.

Bill Spraggett died on 26th March and his funeral will take place at Landican at 10 a.m. on Thursday, 19th April followed by a Service of Thanksgiving here at 11 a.m.

Our thoughts and prayers are with both Eileen’s family and Olive and her family at this difficult time.

MISSION IN UGANDA

We send best wishes to Erica Rimmer  as she embarks on another two week trip to Uganda.  The group she will be with will be visiting schools and working with the children bringing them the stories of the Bible and teaching them about the love of God.

CIRCUIT PRAYER DIARY

Copies of April’s Circuit Prayer Diary are now available in the foyer.  Help yourself to a copy.

EASTER OFFERING ENVELOPES

Envelopes and bookmarks are now available if you wish to donate to the Methodist Church World Mission Fund which helps to support mission partners working overseas and makes grants for special projects.

A special Circuit Service to dedicate the Easter Offering takes place here at West Kirby at 6.30 p.m. on Sunday, 29th April.  The preacher will be Rev Sheila Prest.

WEEKLY ENVELOPE SCHEME

New boxes of weekly envelopes (green) are currently being distributed to existing users of weekly envelopes.  If any additional Church members would like to use the scheme please speak to Elizabeth Delasalle.

GIFT AID

We will soon be preparing our Church’s Gift Aid Claim for 2017/18.  Our Gift Aiders are reminded that they should let Elizabeth Delasalle know, without delay, if there is any possibility that they are no longer tax payers.  If the amount of Gift Aid claimed on an individual’s donation is more than his/her tax paid in the year, then he/she could be asked to pay the difference.

MUSIC FOR THE SOUL

An evening of music by “Missionbandforu” entitled “What a Wonderful World” takes place at The Beacon Coffee Shop (adjacent to Heswall Methodist Church, Telegraph Road) on Wednesday, 4th April between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.  Rev George Palmer will be the guest speaker.  Admission Free (donations welcome). Coffee, tea and cake available.

CARERS SOUP ‘N’ SUPPPORT

The next meeting is on Thursday, 5th April 12 noon until 2 p.m. when the intriguing title is Tax, Care and Toy Boys!  This is actually a session on estate planning delivered by the Co-op which will cover ways to protect your money for future generations.  As well as carers and former carers this session is open to anyone who feels they may benefit from the information.

The next coffee morning is on Monday, 9th April at 10.30 a.m. in the Hilda Shore Room.  All welcome.

The ACM will take place after morning worship on 15th April

METHODIST WOMEN IN BRITAIN - SPRING GATHERING

The MWiB Liverpool District Spring Gathering will be held at Moreton Methodist Church on Thursday, 19th April from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. (drinks served from 10.30 a.m.) The theme for the day is “Trusting in the Promises” and the afternoon session will be led by Deacon Denise Creed.

We will also hear from Viv Beech and her involvement in developing the garden at the Women’s Refuge which is the current Special Project.  All are welcome to a day of worship and fellowship.  Bring a packed lunch, drinks provided.

LIVERPOOL DISTRICT LUNCHEON CLUB

A three course lunch for Methodist ladies is to be held on Wednesday, 25th April at 12 noon at the Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool. The speaker will be Mr Roy Taylor and his amusing talk is entitled “To Travel Gleefully”.  If you would like to come please speak to Jill Cumming. Tickets cost £15.
