OUR CHURCH – THE WAY FORWARD

A reminder that at the last Church Council Meeting it was agreed that a group be set up to look at the way forward for our church.  It is important that this group should comprise not only members of Church Council but also any church member who feels they can contribute to looking into issues concerning our church.

Please speak to any member of the leadership team if you would like to be part of that group or have any thoughts or suggestions to make.

CARERS SOUP ‘N’ SUPPORT

The next meeting will be our summer event which this year is a film show, starting at the earlier time of 11.00 a.m. on Thursday, 2nd August.  There will be a break for lunch at the usual time of 12.00 but this time NO SOUP!  Instead we will be having a summer lunch of sandwiches, cakes, scones and strawberries and cream or ice cream.  The second half of the film will be shown after lunch and we should be finished by 3.00 p.m.  Even if you have never been before, if you are a carer or former carer you are very welcome.

YOUR CIRCUIT NEEDS YOU!

Instead of the usual Circuit Meeting at the end of September, there is to be an Away Day open to all church members on Saturday, 29th September at Barnstondale Centre beginning at 9.30 a.m.   (coffee from 9 a.m.) ending at 3.30 p.m.  Lunch will be provided.

This is YOUR opportunity to come together and help resolve the issues we will be facing from September 2019 in terms of human and financial resources etc.  We need to address our problems.  If you wish to have further details or would like to attend please contact Rev Sheila Prest on 07810002331 or email at

revsheilaprest@hotmail.co.uk

For catering purposes Sheila needs to know numbers by 31st July.

Details may also be found on the noticeboard in the foyer.

MEMORIAL BOOK CABINET

Some of you may be wondering why the pages of the Memorial Book have not been turned recently. The cabinet containing the Memorial Book has been locked by someone and despite a search, the key has not been found.  If anyone knows the whereabouts of the key please let me know.

THE LEPROSY MISSION

Many thanks to all who contributed so generously to TLM after the special service on 17th June.  We have now gathered the donations together and sent them to TLM.   The sum raised is much more than £400 and gift aid will add to this.  Several people asked that their gifts be used exclusively for the Anandaban Hospital project, so we have requested TLM to devote all our donations to this cause.  These contributions are, of course, in addition to the £290 that we gave to TLM in February.

MIDWEEK WORSHIP

Please note that there will be no midweek worship at the Methodist Centre at Thingwall during August.  The next planned service will be on Wednesday, 5th September.
