Matters Arising:
Participation in Worship: About 15 people attended the meeting with Sylvia Price. We need to identify the needs of the group an establish specific training areas and these may be identified on our journey into themed services.
Action: committee to have watching brief.
Agenda Items:
Themed Services: We have established themes for the months of August (Growing together), October (Harvest, with a Jazz service one week) and December (Advent: Hope, Peace, Joy & Love) and we need to establish the working groups. We will have a meeting of interested Preachers and others and led by Jim and Graham. This group them will consider all elements of the worship. The role of the WCC will be to take feedback and use in future planning and decide upon themes.
We would establish groups of 4-5 people to consider hymns/songs/music to fit the themes, maybe starting with “Not the Choir”
Action: Graham and Jim to invite preachers to meet and establish dates to meet. Graham to invite people to join in and select music and words for services. Yvonne and group to look at drama resource. Ray to ask Peninsular Jazz Men.
Leaflet for August: Layout was discussed and it was decided to drop the font size and make a couple of minor changes and to communicate this document and the aims to the congregation on Sunday 3rd July and through August. During the conversation Jim made a request of Barry for the bread used in the next communion was on a dinner plate and cut into 1” squares.
Action: Graham to make changes to pamphlet. Jim to talk though it with the congregation on Sunday 3rd July. Barry to arrange bread for communion.
Schools: The harvest theme will be communicated to the schools as well as the “Crib” theme for Christmas. Kim Harrison, Anne Cross and Sue Knight and they will be writing to the schools before the summer holidays.
Banners: we all agreed that the banners in church looked magnificent and that we aught to write and than the group.
Action: Ian to write to the group c/o Sue.
Methodist Hymn Book: The book has now been published and it was agreed to purchase a full music copy, 2 words copies and the CD-ROM.
Action: Jim/Graham to purchase.
