Apologies:  A. Taylor and G. Gladden

Present:  A. Wilson, K. Trickey, B. Powers, R. Ward, J. Dobson, I. Jackson

Matters Arising:

We reviewed the plans for Back to Church Sunday and concluded that all that was needed now was for members to invite AN Other. We did think that there needed to be thought given on how we follow up people who did “come back” and also be prepared to greet people and welcome them as we normally do when we spot someone unfamiliar to us.
All actions had been implemented and the Harvest arrangements were in place. The final service to include the members cards and commitment card.
School groups that got involved with representing Harvest in any way, would have their works displayed. If we looked to be getting a great many then we could approach Dee Art Group to use their display boards if necessary through Barry, through George.

Action:  Barry to ask George T if it would be possible to borrow display boards if needed.

Feedback from the prayer service suggested it went very well, and that the congregation appreciated the video contribution from Jim. We aught to consider the format again.

Agenda Items:

Advent:  The format proposed by Graham for the Advent focus was agreed and Yvonne was going to source voices for the parts.
Looking at the themes it was decided to move the Gift service to the 4th December and see if the Asylum seekers from Kensington could come on the first Sunday, 27th November when the theme is to be Hope. Barry and Keith were asked if they would take the service on the morning of the 11th following the success of their last venture together and Ian would take the 18th December. Midnight Communion on the 24th at the usual time.
Other services over Christmas would include:
Scouts 12th December 7pm
Carols 18th December PM (News @ 10 format).
The Crib event with “meet the characters” has had a good response from schools and we now needed people to help the liaison group move forward.
No services on either the evening of 25th or the evening 1st Jan.

Action:  Yvonne to seek the players of parts. Ian to ask David if the team from Kensington can make 27th am and if so let John Turner know we will move gift service to 4th Dec.
Yvonne and Jim to work approach Sue G about what is needed for cribs.
Following Christmas we proposed and agreed that there would be a Covenant Service on the evening 8th January 2012.

Bible Sunday:  We discussed the best time to have Bible Sunday and thought it best to be later, maybe February. Jim was going to raise this with the Mission Committee at next meeting.

Action:
Jim to agree month/date with Mission Committee for Bible Sunday.

There followed a discussion on hymns, which we tended to sing and how we might broaden our repertoire. It was felt that the electronic format might help and that transferring hard copy to that format would help. There is a catalogue system in place. The new hymnbook was coming in electronic format, word was best, but others might need to be transcribed. We may need a working party or Simon to do that and someone to organise the writing of prayers (Doreen) etc.
As we develop our services Jim thought we might need a prep group for slides.

Action:
  Ray to advise.

DONM:  Monday 16th January 2012, 7.30pm Ray’s home.
